Y York is the recipient of the 2008 Smith Prize for …and LA is Burning; Houston’s 2012 Buzzy Award, Best New Play for Woof; the Berrilla Kerr Award for the Secret wife; the Hawai`i Award for Literature for Nothing is the Same; five times from the AATE Distinguished Play Award, and the Charlotte Chorpenning Award for her body of work for children and their families. New plays premiered last spring in Seattle and Malvern, PA, and will premiere next season in Omaha. Used plays can be found at Broadway Play Publishing or Dramatic Publishing. Plays have been supported by the NEA, the Rockefeller Foundation, AT and T OnStage, USA Artists, and many local arts organizations through the years. For three decades Y has been writing plays- their current number astonishes even her. Most of the plays have been produced and between twenty and thirty are published. She still lives with Mark Lutwak to whom most things are still dedicated. They have two dogs and recently relocated to the Pacific Northwest.
